Hey all you lovely vegans, I wish I could say that I have been walking around in the wilderness on a trek or working so hard on some awesome project or whatever but the truth of the matter is I have been snoozing at the helm of this inky ship.  My apologies about that and now back to our regularly scheduled tattoo adventures.

Our next contributor Angela got this tattoo on her wrist in a font taken from R. Crumb’s “The Sweeter Side of R. Crumb”.

I promise to get back to posting regularly again my vegan friends.  Thanks again for your patience and above all, thanks for being vegan!

Hey all, busy week again here but we have a nice quick post for you before you all head off for the weekend.  I hope there are lots of good times for everyone and hopefully a delicious vegan treat involved as well.

Our latest contributor Kayla from Austin, TX writes:

“i got my cruelty-free bunny 2 years ago in queenstown, new zealand.  i really love it, not just for its meaning and simplicity, but for the conversations it inspires.”

A start is bun

We love the simplicity as well and hope the conversations are all fun and lead to 100% vegan conversion rate!

Have a great weekend everyone!  Thanks a ton for stopping by and as always thanks for being vegan!!

Hey all, hope you are having a fantastic week filled with vegan delights and good times.

Our next contributor comes from Amanda the protein scientist in New York.  Amanda says:

“My tattoo is on my left forearm and was done by Claire at Fun City Tattoo in NYC.  I’m a protein x-ray crystallographer, so I wanted my tattoo to reflect my love of the molecular world.  My tattoo is a peptide (protein) that spells out ENERGY in amino acids (the building blocks of proteins which have one letter abbreviations).”

Are you sure thats not martian?

Are you sure thats not martian?

Amanda continues:

“Although it isn’t clearly a vegan tattoo, energy symbolizes, to me, the cycle of life…that we come from energy and return to energy and therefore, we should respect all life as we are really all one.  Afterall, according to a fundamental principle of physics, energy is neither created nor destroyed.  ENERGY is the symbol of my life!”

I think its a neat tattoo and I know we all like energy around here, especially in the form of cupcakes, tofu, muffins and vegan lasagna.

Thanks a bunch for making me feel dumb and also for being a vegan scientist! Yay!

Hey all, quick Friday night second post for you.  Awesome vegan Allison writes:

“The tattoo shop is not vegan (nor is my artist), but he does have a great supply of vegan ink. The coloring will be done in 2-3 weeks.”

I'm glad roses are vegan too!

Allison adds that she is getting the work done by Rob Rez at American Made in Missoula, MT.

Our special thugged out Friday edition tattoo comes from vegan outlaw Jordan.  I don’t have any tattoos on my toes but I hear the top of the foot is fairly agonizing.  It looks pretty tough though!

Toepac 4 life!

Toepac 4 eva!

Jordan writes:

“This was done last year by Terry Brown at Electric Ladyland Tattoo Studio in New Orleans. I wanted a vegan tattoo that wasn’t very serious, and since I don’t want my knuckles done, I figured a vegan toe knuckle tattoo would be perfect.”

I just love it and I know a lot of other people will be inspired by this tattoo.  Anyone want to get “veg4″  ”life” on their knuckles? C’mon!

Thanks a ton for the awesome pic Jordan!

Today’s excellent piece was sent by Marie from the Phillipines who writes:

“I got my first tattoo on September 20 of last year. Been thinking of getting a tattoo and I wanted it vegan-related. I settled for the word “Vegan” in Victorian script. ”

“I got the maya bird tattoo on April 6 of this year. The maya bird used to be my country’s national bird, then it got demoted (now our national bird is a monkey-eating eagle). I got the maya bird tattooed because it symbolizes my love for country, freedom, and animals. The maya bird isn’t really a symbol of simplicity, but that’s precisely why I like it — it’s not as showy as an eagle, it’s just a regular bird that everyone overlooks.”

these wing definitely are for flying

HALP! that bird is stealing my spaghetti!!!!

Beautiful bird and an amazing country.  Thanks a bunch for the lovely addition and thanks especially for being vegan!

Another good submission from another awesome vegan.

Dayna writes:

“I got it done in honor of my first veganversary, back in January. My friend Adrienne drew it and Myles Karr did the tattoo (he was at Saved when I got it, but has recently moved to Three Kings). ”

I am a big fan of black and white outline work like this, i only have one tattoo with any color at all and its just a splash of water on my arm.  I think my next big piece will definitely have more color though.

Check out that Myles Karr site if you are in Brooklyn, looks like he does some lovely animal and vegetable images.
